Abstract

The curriculum that facilitates the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka initiative is currently transforming the learning paradigm by focusing on the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU). In terms of the learning process, this is related to IKU 2, which emphasizes increasing student exchange programs, and IKU 7, which focuses on project-based learning. Therefore, adjustments in the learning process are required for all lecturers. This paper examines the integration of the project-based learning method into e-learning systems, which results in increased student engagement. The study involved 54 respondents from partner universities: Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, IKIP PGRI Pontianak, and Universitas Cokroaminoto Yogyakarta. This research analyzes the student exchange program as implemented in the Digital Learning Innovation course. The subject of the study was the Instructional Media course. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method, using data triangulation. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the research, it was concluded that integrating project-based learning into e-learning can enhance student engagement. This was evident from the analysis of the learning process, which involved students in a variety of activities, including the creation of digital books, videos, tutorials, interactive media, Android applications, interactive games, media packaging, and article writing. These activities were conducted in groups over 16 sessions. All activities were implemented using the e-learning platform, supported by learning materials such as modules, tutorials, videos, flipbooks, and Android programs to reinforce learning outcomes. The novelty of this research lies in the use of hybrid media that is compactly structured, so that every activity results in a media product. Another novelty is the use and development of Android-based instructional media through the conversion of PowerPoint programs into storyboard-based applications. This research can be further developed into a structured learning program that produces graduates capable of mastering various types of instructional media to enhance their competencies.
